It's a cache program for diskette drives. Supposed to keep up to 64-k of the
most recently referenced sectors in a buffer so that fewer physical I/O need
be done. It's from an article in PC Mag. Since it ate three floppies, and
because they don't want it distributed via BBS, my copy of CACHE.LBR has gone
to the great bit bucket in the sky. Too bad.

Saw your msg 30883 here regarding CACHE.LBR, in which you stated that it had
eaten 3 floppies. Under what circumstances did this happen? I have a friend
who laboriously typed the program in by hand from PC Magazine, and he got real
concerned when I mentioned that I had seen your message on this SIG. I told
him I would try to get some more info... Any details you can give would be
most appreciated. -- Bill

All I can tell you is that I downloaded the ASM source (sorry about that) and
the COM. I tested it a couple of times and found that it did indeed improve
diskette I/O. Unfortunately for me, I failed to reboot after a testing session
and found out a few hours later that every floppy that I had written to was
munged. The directories had invalid entries (mixed up from another drive), and
the FATs were bad. Lotsa cross-linked files, etc. Apparently the write-bypass
doesn't always work. Let someone else fix it, I've DELeted my copies of CACHE.
